FAQ

  • HOW DID CALLA AND MATTHIAS MEET?

We met on a dating app called Hinge in the summer of 2020! Matthias was living in Poolesville, MD/ Silver Spring, MD, and Calla was in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, DC. Our first date was at an archery range, where Matthias taught Calla how to shoot a bow and arrow with a bow he made by hand!

  • WHO ARE ELIAS, CHARLIE, AND SPAGHETTI?

Elias Voldemort Hakeem and Charlie Boy are our two Russian Blue cats, adopted by Calla in college and during her MA program (respectively). Spaghetti Andretti Bolognese Cameron-Kelderman is our beloved Galgo Español (an unusual type of sighthound) that we adopted in 2023. We are obsessed with all three of them!

  • SHOULD I STAY IN WASHINGTON, DC, OR VIRGINIA?

You can stay anywhere you like! If you aren't comfortable driving at night or plan on drinking during the wedding, we recommend you stay in Leesburg, VA, close to 48 Fields. We will have a shuttle to take guests from the Landsdowne Resort & The Courtyard Marriott to and from 48 Fields. If you're up for a safe and sober drive, have a blast in DC or any of the adorable historic towns in MD or VA! If you're looking to experience the nation's capital, we recommend making a long weekend out of your trip to the area so you can experience the rural tranquility of northern Virginia/ western Maryland and the exciting environment of Washington without feeling pressed for time.

  • WHO SHOULD I CALL DURING THE WEDDING WEEKEND IF I HAVE A QUESTION?

Anyone but the bride and groom! We hear the flower girls and ring bearers don't have a lot of info, either. We suggest emailing our planner, Amy Jones - amy@amychampagne.com - she has all of the info!

  • Will transportation be provided?

Transportation will be provided from Lansdowne and The Courtyard Marriott - Dulles Town Center. A full transportation schedule will be available during the week of the wedding. Please check back!

  • May we bring our kids? Will there be a babysitter?

While we love your children, this is an adults only wedding weekend - aside from our flower girls & ring bearers, of course!

  • Please elaborate on the attire requests.

WELCOME PARTY - Retro Bowling Attire:

The party will be held at a bowling alley, and we’re leaning into a fun, retro vibe! Think vintage bowling shirts, colorful patterns, and playful accessories if you’d like to join in the theme. That said, themed attire is encouraged but not required—come as you’re comfortable and ready to bowl.

WEDDING - Statement Making Fall Formal:

Guests are welcome to choose formal or semi-formal looks that feel fitting for the season, whether timeless and elegant or bold and playful. The goal is for everyone to wear something that makes them feel like the most special version of themselves. Rich autumn tones, chic fabrics, and standout accessories are all encouraged.

  • Do I have to go “all out” for the dress code?

Not at all. Classic formal attire is always perfect, but if you’re inspired to embrace the idea of “statement-making” or “retro bowling” you’ll be in great company. Whether subtly polished or strikingly creative, all interpretations are welcome.

  • EXAMPLES OF WHAT TO WEAR:

Women: Formal or semi-formal dresses, gowns, or chic jumpsuits in seasonal tones.

Men: Suits or tuxedos, with room for creative ties, pocket squares, or fall-inspired accents.

Seasonal tip: Fabrics like velvet, satin, or wool blends work beautifully for an autumn celebration.
